Following the conclusion of the UK’s fourth season on Friday, development has officially begun on a stage play scheduled to open in London in 2027.

The stage version brings together an experienced and acclaimed creative team:

The project is a collaboration between Studio Lambert, the production company behind the TV series, and Neal Street Productions, co-founded by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes. Neal Street’s portfolio spans television, theatre, and film, including Call the Midwife, The Lehman Trilogy, and Hamnet.
Producers Promise a Fresh Theatrical Twist
Stephen Lambert, chief executive of Studio Lambert, said the partnership with Neal Street allows the show to be reimagined specifically for the stage, rather than simply replicated.
He explained that loyal fans should expect an intense and entertaining night, with the story unfolding in a brand-new setting designed to heighten suspense and drama.
Caro Newling, co-founder of Neal Street Productions, added that the creative team is crafting a structural reinvention of the format, using the strengths of live theatre to deliver something that television cannot.
A Reality TV Format with Global Reach
The Traitors began its journey in 2021 on Dutch television under the title De Verraders. Since then, it has grown into a worldwide reality TV phenomenon, with more than 30 international versions produced across Europe, Australia, and beyond.
Each version follows the same core concept, encouraging contestants to deceive, manipulate, and betray one another in pursuit of victory.

Duffy, widely regarded as one of the strongest traitors in the show’s history, later shared that fans in her hometown of Newry would jokingly shout “you big traitor!” at her in public—comments she said she always took in good humor.

John Finnemore is best known for creating and starring in Radio 4’s Cabin Pressure, as well as writing for Mitchell and Webb. Beyond broadcasting, he is also notable for being only the third person in nearly 100 years to solve the literary puzzle Cain’s Jawbone.
Director Robert Hastie has an equally impressive résumé, including Hamlet at the National Theatre and the musical Operation Mincemeat, which is currently running in the West End and on Broadway.
